ArtDepot is pleased to announce that the solo exhibition "BURN SLOW" by artist Jak Sun officially opened on October 12, 2025. This exhibition brings together a curated selection of works created between 2023 and 2025, highlighting the profound fusion of street aesthetics and classical traditions. A central focus is placed on the artist's unique conceptual approach to his medium.
The exhibition will be on view until November 16, 2025.
JAK seamlessly merges spray paint with classical traditions, gradually taming this inherently volatile medium of the streets into a precise language of painting. The wildness of the spray is restrained under meticulous control, releasing its energy slowly and persistently. While moving beyond “essential graffiti” in attitude, he takes pleasure in appropriating public images—a mischievous inclination the artist indulges in with relish. This fusion of classical kitsch and confrontational street DNA culminates in a profound irony.
The artist believes that the progress of civilization requires both the primitive drive of “frenzy” and the act of “burn slow” to cool the collective anxiety of our time. Across any era, one may trace reflections of our own delirium—like the centuries-old porcelain depicted in his works, silently documenting who we are today. It seems things always slip into a state of boundless, pathological expansion. It is then we realize: “To possess, to dominate, to destroy—that is the entirety of the education we receive.”
